Tiki Bars in Los Angeles: A Complete List
When it comes to tiki culture and history, there are few cities more important than Los Angeles. Tiki was literally born in L.A., thanks to Donn Beach and his iconic Don the Beachcomber bar, which was located in Hollywood. It was there that the first tiki drinks were invented and ever poured: The Zombie. The Mai Tai. (Disputedly.) You get the idea.
It’s no surprise then that Los Angeles (and the surrounding communities of Greater L.A. and Orange County) is home to a large number of great tiki bars – and some of the world’s best. Curious which ones you can visit this weekend (unlike Don the Beachcomber, unfortunately)? This list is for you!

From historic hideaways to swanky speakeasies, tiki takes many forms in Los Angeles, so there’s really something for everyone. This post was last updated in early 2025, so hopefully it’s updated when you check; if you notice an error or closure, I’d really appreciate if you let me know in the comments below. If you are an L.A. resident and have a home tiki bar you’d like to share, I’d love to hear about that too!
